Regional Human Resources Manager

Carpenter s Latrobe Specialty Metals operations, based in Latrobe, Pa., manufacture high-performance specialty alloys serving aerospace, energy and other demanding markets. Carpenter acquired Latrobe in 2012 to increase capacity to meet strong customer demand and to broaden the company s product mix. Latrobe employs more than 1,000 dedicated production, maintenance and salaried staff and continues a century-long legacy of leadership in metals technology. Latrobe is part of the corporation s Specialty Alloys Operations division.

Position Summary:

Position reports directly to Vice President, Human Resources and will be responsible for 6 direct reports. Position will be responsible for driving change and creating a dynamic culture.

The Regional Human Resources Manager will oversee the company s Latrobe, PA, Franklin, PA and Wauseon, OH locations HR programs, policies, and procedures.

Responsible for leading the Human Resource strategy and managing the day-to-day Human Resources department supporting both P&M (1000-1700 employees) and Salaried (100-200 employees) workforce. This encompasses all aspects of HR including; employee and labor relations strategies, organization development, staffing, training, communications, compensation and benefits administration.

Position Priorities

  • Implement leading edge HR plans, programs, and policies to create the value proposition for attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry.
  • Assist and manage the implementation efforts including the implementation of various continuous improvement efforts to include the Operating Model, execution of a change management strategy, engagement of employees at all levels of the organization and execution of critical milestones.
  • Develop solid relationships across the enterprise and serve as a business partner to line leaders throughout the system.
  • Lead the development of a strong employee relations atmosphere including the involvement of all constituent groups to enable smooth implementation of Corporate initiatives and other critical business changes.
  • Conduct a full assessment of the Human Resources function within the first three months and build a strategy to drive a best HR department for the location.
  • Provide interpretation of relevant policies and procedures; guide management on handling sensitive performance management and other employee relations matters, conduct investigations and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Manage site(s) based employee relations activities.
  • Identify and implement various positive workplace initiatives which guide and increase employee engagement.
  • Maintain good communication and a positive relationship with employees to promote employee engagement, satisfaction and retention.
  • Coach and counsel managers, human resources professionals and employees related to workplace issues, concerns and conflicts including EEO, ADA, performance, and termination guidelines
  • Manage all location investigations, employee complaints, exit interviews, Problem Resolution, and Open Door procedures. Oversee the location Corrective Performance system and administration. Oversees the labor relations function for the Latrobe, PA facility.
  • Monitor workforce engagement, morale, employee satisfaction, organized labor (union) interest and activity. Collaborate with HR Managers on all communications impacting location workforce.
  • Serve on the local leadership team.
  • Serve as a business partner to the site leader and will play an active and critical role in the strategic direction, management and tactical roll-out of all aspects of HR.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 7+ Years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Strong labor relations and union avoidance experience
  • 1st chair union negotiation experience
  • Passionate about employee relations and has track record of creating employee engagement program
  • Ability to use data and productivity measures to drive change, develop processes and enhance organizational performance
  • Experience conducting training and development activities as well as identifying training and development needs
  • Creative, forward thinking, up-to-date on the latest in HR
  • Experience with change management
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, retail or healthcare environment preferred

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
