Job Description ‚€“ Research and Development Engineer - Ceramics

Research and Development Responsibilities:

  • Process and new materials development using ceramics technology, powder metallurgy and forming processes

  • Manufacturing support and process development

  • Develop process chain for ceramic cutting tools, diamond & cBN composites, metal matrix composites, and ceramic alloys

  • Understand materials science and metallurgy of ceramics

  • Collaborate with University and National labs

  • Project lead ceramic development projects

  • Propose and conduct design of experiments and coordinate tasks with other R&D engineers, managers, technicians

  • Formulate ideas and resolve technical issues related to ceramic process, sintering, finishing for tooling and wear applications

  • Work with business leaders in new product development, transition development to manufacturing, quality and validate manufacturing changes, equipment or process.

  • Determine appropriate manufacturing methods and strategies to reduce costs and meet critical to quality requirements


  • Ph.D. in materials science with experience is required

  • GPA 3.5 or above is required

  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Experience working closely with manufacturing is strongly recommended

Desired experience:¬ 

  • Experience with ceramic manufacturing, hot press, cold press, sintering, powder preparation.¬ 

  • Materials systems: Carbide, Boride, Nitride, Oxide ceramic composites ¬ 

  • Sinter distortion modeling, distortion modeling and prediction¬ 

  • Project management, leadership, and group experience

  • Manufacturing experience is strongly suggested

Additional experience:

  • Cutting tool and tribology experience

  • Sintering and distortion modeling

  • Working with manufacturing, transition and support, quality control

  • Background in sintering, powder metallurgy, and forming

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
