Job Description:  Tooling Engineer

Location:  Latrobe, PA


Job Description:


The Purpose of this position is to coordinate the ordering, prioritization, and manufacture of press tools between the external press tool shops, die design, and the global manufacturing plants. The press tools are manufactured by 7 external vendors and 3 internal vendors. It's crucial to Kennametal that all vendors are working on press tools tied to priority logic. Developing relationships with the die coordinators and press tool vendors is important success in this position. In this position, you will gain tactical knowledge pertaining to press tools, pressing, die design, and carbide insert production. Our plants will rely on the Corporate Tool Procurement Engineer to ensure timely and accurate press tool delivery.


Job Requirements:


  • Coordinate the manufacture and repair between external and internal press tool manufacturers, users, and die design.

  • Prioritize the output based on Global Kennametal requirements.

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of a priority system.

  • Provide troubleshooting expertise and solutions pertaining to prioritization system and press tools.


Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree required.  Preferred Discipline:  Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering

  • 3-5 years experience in a tool shop is preferred

  • Expert in MS Office products including Excel and Power Point

  • SAP experience required

  • CAD experience required

  • Tool Room and Grinding knowledge regarding Carbide and Steel Punches and molds preferred

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong Communication Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Strong Organizational Skills
