Job Description


Kennametal is seeking a highly-motivated Business Analytics Analyst to join our team working closely with our Business Analytics team, Data administrators/Developers and Senior Management. Within the Business Analytics Analyst role, you will work on the highest-level analysis performed in the company which will impact all facets of our growing Industrial business. The work will be highly cross functional, working with Commercial team and Business Unit Leaders, Marketing, and Product Management teams to identify, analyze and parse data to better inform their strategies and implement revenue and margin improvement opportunities across the Industrial business. 
The individual will be responsible for making sure that actionable insights are delivered in response to business questions and that ad hoc and recurring metrics and reports are delivered. This role requires an individual with strong analytical skills, excellent communications skills, and
proven ability to synthesize and simplify complex issues. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, likes to be hands-on with data and has proven ability to deliver analysis that supports making business decisions. 
Job Accountabilities:


  • Own the design, development, validation, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions

  • Conduct hands-on modeling/analytics retrieving, compiling, and analyzing large volumes of data from disparate databases into distilled, actionable information and insights

  • Execute quantitative analyses that translate into actionable insights for Industrial organization cross functional teams

  • Develop standardized dashboards and reports with an emphasis on automation and scalability

  • Build and maintain domain expertise in relevant data sets and be able to think strategically about what data is critical to capture; develop understanding of internal data structures.

  • Identify data requirements and data visualization/reporting needs

  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis, as well as ability to present results in a clear manner

  • Identifying data-related opportunities

  • Being vigilant about ways to increase business efficiency and productivity through data driven insights

  • Assist with development of protocols for systematizing processes for collecting, monitoring, analyzing and reporting data


Education, Knowledge And Experience Requirements:


  • B.S. or M.S. degree required in either quantitative field, math, statistics, computer science or data science

  • Hands-on experience in designing and building analytical data applications and BI Reporting

  • Programming experience in SQL, Python, or ETL development packages desired

  • SQL Server Integration Services and Microsoft Azure is preferred

  • Experience with business intelligence data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI

  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to tell a story with the data

  • Analytical thinker, with an ability to evaluate multiple products/technologies to address various aspects of a data platform.

  • Concise and organized scripting and programming skills

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and strong track record of setting and meeting delivery commitments

  • Ability to convert business strategy into action oriented objectives and measurable result
